Delmont Deer Management Program
Hunting at RJ Shields Farm is not permitted without being registered with this program.
Public hunting on Delmont-owned properties is not permitted.
- Archery only from a tree stand.
- Hunter must provide their own tree stand.
- Tree stands cannot be installed more than three weeks prior to the start of the archery
season and must be removed within two weeks following the end of the season. - Follows all PA Game Commission rules and regulations.
- Hunters may hunt during the Fall and Late archery seasons.
- Hunting is not permitted on Sundays. Hunting is not permitted during the Apple-n-Arts
Festival weekend. - Hunters are required to attend a qualification meeting each year before the season
begins to complete paperwork, pay the annual fee of $35.00, and qualify with their
archery equipment to ensure safety and accuracy of gear. Qualification consists of
shooting at a target 20 yards out. - Hunters are required to hunt a minimum of 6 times per season. One hunt is considered
at least three hours in duration - Preference is given to Delmont residents, employees, and those who live in surrounding
areas because you are REQUIRED to be an active member of the program or you will be
dropped. - The program is currently limited to 4 hunters. Registered hunters may not transfer their
registration to another hunter, nor share it with others. If more than 4 hunters sign up,
a lottery will be held to determine who will be registered. If a registered hunter is
unable to hunt, they should turn in their permit, so that another can participate. - Good sportsmanship is required
- Must harvest at least one deer every two years. A copy of the completed tag must be
sent to the coordinator when a deer is harvested. - Participation in this program is a privilege, not a right, and can be revoked at any time.
- While hunting, park only in an established parking space and display the provided
parking permit
